Salisbury Steak with Onion Gravy is like the ultimate comfort food and super easy to make!

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 25 mins
Total Time: 35 mins
Servings: 4 juicy steaks

For the Salisbury Steaks:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (fancy name, but it’s awesome)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Onion Gravy:

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp flour (to thicken it up)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Make the steaks: In a big bowl, mix the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Get in there with your hands and form 4 oval-shaped patties (like mini meatloafs).

2.Cook the patties: Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the patties until browned on both sides (about 4-5 minutes per side). Once they’re browned, take them out and set them aside.

3.Make the gravy: In the same pan (don’t clean it!), add butter and sliced onions. Cook them for about 5-7 minutes until they get soft and golden. Stir in the flour and cook for another minute. Slowly add the beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer until it thickens up.

4.Bring it together: Put the patties back in the pan with the gravy. Spoon some gravy over the steaks, cover, and let them cook for another 10 minutes so the flavors can party together.

5.Serve it up: Serve your Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes, rice, or whatever side you love! Pour that onion gravy all over the top. YUM!
