Ingredients :
1½ cups cooked jasmine or sushi rice
¼ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons five-spice powder
2 teaspoons diced shallots
1 tablespoon tamari sauce
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon sesame oil
2 teaspoons water
⅓ cup plain breadcrumbs
¾ cup panko breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
Orange Marmalade Dipping Sauce
½ cup all-natural orange marmalade
1 tablespoon soy sauce
Directions :
1. Make the rice according to package instructions. While the rice is cooking, make the dipping sauce by combining the marmalade and soy sauce and set aside.
2. Stir together the cooked rice, salt, five-spice powder, shallots, and tamari sauce.
3. Divide rice into 8 equal pieces. With slightly damp hands, mold each piece into a log shape. Chill in freezer for 10 to 15minutes.
4. Mix the egg, sesame oil, and water together in a shallow bowl.
5. Place the plain breadcrumbs on a sheet of wax paper.
6. Mix the panko breadcrumbs with the sesame seeds and place on another sheet of wax paper.
7. Roll the rice logs in plain breadcrumbs, then dip in egg wash, and then dip in the panko and sesame seeds.
8. Cook the logs at 390°F for approximately 5minutes, until golden brown.
9. Cool slightly before serving with Orange Marmalade Dipping Sauce.
