My sister made this couple days ago and invited me over for supper. I thought it turned out pretty good. I got my sister’s approval to share this. My sister didn’t have french fried onions and use cheese since my sister was out of french fried onions.
My sister has been struggling financially and it’s unable to buy a lot of food since my sister’s been struggling.
Ingredients:
- 2 cans (14 ounces each) of green beans, drained (you can also use fresh green beans)
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/3 cups French-fried onions
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix well until the ingredients are well combined.
- Add the drained green beans to the mixture and stir until the green beans are evenly coated.
- Pour the green bean mixture into a casserole dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until the casserole is hot and bubbly.
- Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the French-fried onions evenly over the top.
- Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
This classic green bean casserole is a popular side dish, especially during holidays like Thanksgiving. Feel free to modify the recipe based on any specific preferences or additional ingredients that Sandy might use in her version.
