Hey everyone! Today, we’re making an awesome dish that’s loaded with flavor—Shrimp and Chicken Chow Mein

It’s a delicious stir-fry with noodles, chicken, shrimp, and veggies. Super simple, super tasty, and perfect for dinner. Let’s get started!

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz chow mein noodles (or any stir-fry noodles)
  • 1/2 lb (about 225g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb (about 225g) chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup cabbage, shredded
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (optional for thickening)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional for garnish)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Cook the Noodles:

First, bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the chow mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain the noodles and set them aside.

2. Cook the Chicken:

In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken and cook for about 5-6 minutes until it’s browned and fully cooked. Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.

3. Cook the Shrimp:

In the same pan, add the shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and are cooked through. Take the shrimp out of the pan and set aside with the chicken.

4. Stir-Fry the Veggies:

Add another tablespoon of oil to the pan and toss in the sliced onion, bell pepper, cabbage, and minced garlic. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the veggies are softened but still a bit crunchy.

5. Make the Sauce:

In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce (if using), and sesame oil. Add the cornstarch slurry if you want the sauce to be a bit thicker.

6. Combine Everything:

Add the cooked chicken and shrimp back into the pan with the veggies. Then, toss in the cooked noodles. Pour the sauce over everything and stir until all the ingredients are coated in that delicious sauce.

7. Serve It Up:

Garnish your Shrimp and Chicken Chow Mein with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, and you’re ready to serve! It’s perfect as a main meal, and it’s super satisfying.
