Hey foodies! 🍽️ If you’re craving something hearty, this Italian Sausage, Onions, and Peppers Skillet is where it’s at!
It’s a one-pan wonder, so easy to whip up, and loaded with flavor. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or meal prep. Let’s get to it!
Ingredients:
- 4 Italian sausages (mild or spicy, your choice)
- 1 large onion (sliced)
- 3 bell peppers (mix of red, yellow, and green for color, sliced)
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional for spice)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley (for garnish)
- Crusty bread or pasta (optional for serving)
Instructions:
1. Cook the Sausage:
Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the Italian sausages and cook until browned on all sides (about 8-10 minutes). Remove from the skillet and set aside.
2. Cook the Veggies:
In the same skillet, add another tbsp of olive oil. Toss in the sliced onions and bell peppers, and sauté until they’re softened and caramelized (about 5-7 minutes). Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
3. Season It Up:
Sprinkle the veggies with Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes (if you like it spicy), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir everything together so the flavors blend.
4. Bring It Together:
Slice the cooked sausages and add them back into the skillet with the veggies. Cook for another 5 minutes, letting all the flavors combine.
5. Garnish & Serve:
Garnish with fresh basil or parsley for a little freshness! Serve it as is, with crusty bread, or over pasta if you’re feeling extra.
Tips:
- Want more flavor? Drizzle some balsamic glaze on top.
- This dish is great for meal prep—just store leftovers and reheat!
